Whimsey

Well darn I just realized that I didn't get a pic of the whole enchilada here! My hanging recycled windchime has feet and chimes! I have to get another pic to post. In the meantime she is made up of an old shovel handle that Elliot was going to throw out! Some old beads and a wooden egghead that I added paperclay buns to on either side of her head and then painted. Some old chimes that were falling apart and some paperclay shoes that I made. I added a tiny terra cotta pot, etc. Of course wire!

The crow I bought a few years ago is made of sheet metal and is screwed onto the deck railing. I love that crow!

I am making a stand for my latest "fairytale" doll and will post pic soon.

They say it will snow tomorrow! Gees will we ever see Spring?

It wasn't my intention to sell her I just finished her! I had it out and had to make a choice. She is Sold! It is like selling a piece of yourself, I put so much attention on her and now she is gone! Now to make another one!

Business or no? I choose business, it is time!

My find at the antique mall today

This is my haul at the Mad Hatter Antique mall today the whole wooden bowl with old wooden spools of thread, some needles and buttons. The two antique photos were separate. The whole bowl with needles and threads, laces and buttons were for $18. Not bad I'd say! They also wrapped in up in a bunch of tissue papers I can use for collages so that is an extra bonus!

This pic below is a birthday gift I just received from my friend Evilyn. She made it herself, I love it. She needs a bit of ironing so if her little cloth body looks crumpled that is why. She is one dimensional and came to me in a yoga position so I had to unfold her. I really do like her! I was thinking maybe I should dress her up and send her back for Evil's birthday! Hmmm, maybe next year, for now I will just enjoy her and think of what do to to/with her. LOL! Collage maybe? Maybe I will just have to make Evil one of my own for her birthday next year!

I haven't got a name for her so for now she is naked yoga lady!

Sketches, doodles and doll ideas.

Well finally two days of work in the workshop! I am working on two new dolls. I have joined a mixed media group with Jane De Rosier and Maureen White. I think I will really enjoy it!

My two dolls are coming along! I am just waiting for the sculpt to dry and then will attach arms and legs then on and on! The shop is still cold and it is hard to stay down there for very long!

I have been sketching and drawing out ideas. I have a thing for birds and birdnests lately and hope to incorporate them into my work.

Not much elso going on, (that so far is a lot for me). I have found something I put away to dry a few years ago and will have to get a pic of it to show here. I was experimenting with orange peels and while cleaning out my closet I found them in a little box. I can't remember how long ago they were made but seeing them has given me some new ideas for using orange peels.

The bottom of the "New Fae" is finally dry and ready for decoration so maybe soon I will have that fairy done to show!

I am dreaming dolls and drawings. My dreams are trying to help me decide how to construct the new dolls I am working on so this is fun. I get a few hours of sleep and just before I wake up I get a new direction.

Anyway, here I am again trying to keep this blog updated.

A beautiful sunrise!

I am still trying to get a good pic of the bird doll but can't seem to get a clear one. I will keep trying!

I just had to get a pic of the sunrise this morning! I am usually a rainy day person but I am so looking forward to Spring! Enough of the gray skies and snow and drizzle and the cold that goes deep into your bones! Darn if I am not experiencing arthritis in my right hand fingers! The hand that is dominant! This past Winter has shown me aches in places that I didn't know could ache! And try to keep my toes warm has been interesting too, I have never had a problem getting my feet warm!

OK, enough of the old lady stuff I need to get back to painting or something!

My new C&C,Doll

Ok, I will take a better pic of the final product.

This was fun to do, it was all intuitive. I never started out trying to make a statement with this one but it kind of turned out that way. The people are climbing around an empty bird nest so the bird can't keep it's eggs there. There is a secret nest hiding underneath her. Maybe I should call it Encroachment. Hmmm, just realized that roach was in the word encroachment lol, humans like cockroaches over taking the birds nest. Just joking! Click on the thumbnails to get closeup.
