Yep, that is what I did today after I straightened out my area of the garage. That is part 1 of the garage, part 2 will be tomorrow! I have a few more nests to make and get eggs into. I put this one up at my Etsy shop. Another dreary day here, so why not lay eggs or rather make nests then lay eggs. Click on the images to get a better look. I really need to learn how to take better pictures...or maybe Jupiter, or the powers that be will shine on me and give me a better camera! LOL! Like I said I am a dreamer!

I DID IT!

http://www.mystymeadows.etsy.com/
My Etsy shop is now open! Wheew, I need to add some more items, I only have 4 listed so far. Wish me luck please!
I don't know how to get my pic on the left as a banner. (Oh Rischa I wish you lived nearby!)
What a day I have really earned my dollar trying to get this shop set up...I certaintly hope it works out! My neck hurts and my eyes are burning, the whole day spent on taking pics and figuring the rest out.
Any advice you all have out their with your Etsy shops set up and running I would love to hear from you! Critiques welcomed!

Oh Sunny Saturday!!

Ah, the warmth of the sun! Just for a day I hear but that is ok!
This little girl is on a paper covered 2" x 1 1/2" block of wood. I used my acrylic white again and water color and Pitt Artist pen. I never knew this before but when you put water color over acrylic paint you end up chasing the color around! But it was fun! I am still teaching myself or rather learning on my own about water color! It really is a fascinating medium to me! The things you can make it do or it makes you do or whatever...I am really enjoying it! I suppose I will have to use a fixitive over the paintings I have done these couple of days as I think an acrylic spray to protect this will only make the paint run! More discoveries! Anyway, it is here now so if I ruin it I will just have to try again!

Thank you Sharon Tomlinson for Inspiration!

This is the first time I ever painted on a piece of cardboard and it was fun! I didn't have my Gesso handy so I used Titanium White acrylic paint for the surface, I used an old credit card to spread it around. Since I didn't have any other acrylic paint I used water colors for the rest of the portrait (of no one in particular). I also used bits of a decorative napkin I tore and collaged with Gel medium (the sample of the napkin I used is below the portrait). I love the subtle colors and the translucency of the paper napkin. I saw this technique (using pretty paper napkins as collage) in Cloth, Paper, Scissors some time ago, it was an article featuring Sharon Tomlinson, http://allnorahsart.blogspot.com/. Yesterday and today Sharon had a video part 1 and part 2. She said she was using cardboard with some paper she had collaged on for background. Hmmm, cardboard? I had never thought of it! I am so glad I tried it! I am so glad I had a pretty napkin to use too! I needed something to do. It rained hard today at times and the path to the workshop is soggy to say the least. I did get a couple of hours of playtime down there, but the rest of the afternoon was spent here on my computer and then painting the cardboard. I absolutely loved it! So thanks again Sharon!
Patterns

You know when you look at something and see something else in it...like a face peeking out or a profile or an animal? Well, here is what I saw in my upside down pillow on the sofa one night while watching tv. Btw, there are no birds in the pillow design, just my myopic vision!
Then there is this one that was the end of a torn twig. It looked to me as if it was a face of a man with a hat.
Here is a doodle mandalla I was playing around with. The rectangle is the inside of one of those security envelopes that maybe a bank statement would arrive in. I just connected the lines. A feminine character with flowing hair appeared.
I have been able to do some playing in my workshop for my creative texture class. I love playing with the techniques but when I get down to painting I get it all muddied and don't know quite what to do! I realize I need to stop looking at other students works and let my own muse flow thru. There are a couple I will show here even if they are bad maybe to record progress. Right now they are as usual drying. I went to use some watercolor pens I have and the shank was WET, just to let you know why the drying is taking so looooooooong! DAMP, damp, damp! At least there is no snow and the weather is warmer! It is ok, I love playing in the workshop!

Guess what??? It is snowing again today!
Ratszelfratszel!
I just started a new "Creative Texture" project and left it to dry in the lil house of dreams! Now I guess I have to start something else in house today! Like I said before I am no good walking in the snow! Afterall I am a So. Cal. girl!
I was going to post pics of some altered book projects I have done in the past but for some reason I can't find them in my computer! Probably in the "other" computer! Well I suppose I will leave you for now. I need to get moving and doing something before I fizzle out (I am a morning person)!
BTW, I found this blogsite that offers free picture downloads - http://thevintagemoth.blogspot.com/
Have a wonderful sun shiny day wherever you are!

March or January?
Yup, it is March 9th! Who'd a thunk it! So today I will try to paint up my logo pic for my Etsy shop. Yes, I finally signed up for Etsy. I haven't listed anything yet as I need to get my descriptions and pricing done. There is so much still to learn. I am enjoying the Creative Texture online course with Jane DesRosier and Maureen White! I am learning a lot, they sure do give you more than your money's worth and they keep adding at no additional charge...a lifetime membership of learning different techniques!

Pippi Van Winkle
This is Pippi Van Winkle! She hated housework and finally one day the sun came out and Pippi's family went to visit relatives. Pippi immediately went out to the garden and enjoying the warm sunny day she quickly fell asleep! Five days later she awoke to horrible tugging of her hair and the rest is obvious what happened!
