Someone sent this to me via email...Bring back the good old days!

Why our Grandparents were so happy!

Cocaine tablets (1900)

All stage actors, singers teachers and preachers had to have them for a maximum performance. Great to "smooth" the voice.

Cocaine drops for toothache!

Very popular for children in 1885. Not only did they relieve the pain, they made the children happy!

Opium for Asthma:

Coca Wine, anyone?

Mariani wine (1875) was the most famous Coca wine of it's time. Pope Leo XIII used to carry one bottle with him all the time. He awarded Angelo Mariani (the producer) with a Vatican gold medal.

Bayer’s Heroin

A bottle of Bayer's heroin. Between 1890 and 1910 heroin was sold as a non-addictive substitute for morphine. It was also used to treat children with strong cough.

And it goes on and on! LOL!

Ah...a nice quiet beautiful afternoon...watercolor pt 2 & 3

I worked some more on my watercolor. I like to put it here because then I can look at it from a different perspective!

Any suggestions from you who know watercolor would be appreciated afterall I am the student!

I added some soft white pastel there on the cut hay and some on the hills in the background. Hmmm, maybe some computer manipulation along the line. I will have to play some more with it!

Just letting you know...

I am still here...

I have been working on and off on this watercolor. It is of a hayfield I saw in Central Washington. Since I am fairly new to watercolor I thought this would be a good subject to play around with. It is small, about 8 1/2" x 11." If all goes well with this I may do it larger. It is by no means finished. I thought I'd show the progression. My husband is on vacation for a couple of weeks and that will probably take time away from physical artwork with day trips, etc. Also, I don't want to ignore my blog so I am showing you this for now.

Oh goodness, after viewing it on the blog I can see it sure needs a lot of work! One other good thing about posting it here, I get another view of it!

Yay I did it! Here is a YouTube of the photomelting

process. On the left where is says YouTube. It is number 6 of 6. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did. My artplay with this technique is the post below.

(Now it works for me so if you can't see it please let me know?) Try the link in post below if it doesn't show here. Here is the link again. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UfjQXqIFjMc

I tried, I may need my son to help me with this!

Now, how do I upload those award links?

New artplaying yesterday...

I was checking out YouTube for nothing better to do yesterday as it was a very cold and gloomy day here in Washington. I played some with my watercolors, just wetting paper and making dots hoping for inspiration and trying very hard not to get sucked in to the gloomy day. I found this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UfjQXqIFjMc on YouTube. It was fun. I wish I knew how to snag the video here I may have to play around some. I just don't know how to show the awards etc. I was lucky to get the two links up for Cloth & Clay Dolls and Creative Textures...someone gave me intructions but since I can't retain much techy details I have forgotten. So Rischa thank you for the award and also Pattee. Sorry I don't know how to link them!

Here are the results from my playing with the magazine/solvent painting.

I didn't know what to expect, I was just playing so I didn't scan the befores but the Angel was a model in a red hooded bathing suit and a red towel in her arm. I added the rose. The one with the apple was just that, the only thing I didn't paint with was the apple. I like how they turned out so differently from the plastic looking models. (I really don't like the plastic look anyway!) I can't even remember what products they were advertising! It was fun a lot of fun! So thank you Youtuber! I didn't have any solvent handy so I used a very powerful Lavendar Oil I had forever and my house still smells like lavendar! I must remember to open windows when using these things!

Have a great day everyone! Now I must find something else to do. Maybe I will try making another doll? By the way did I ever tell you I absolutely despise sewing? That is why I keep putting off making dolls

New collage...

I am calling it Peeking into Secret Gardens. (funny, I almost dropped the k there...I may have to change the title...lololol!)

I used distressed paper and old text, collage, acrylic paints, watercolor, gel medium transfer, template, distress ink. I don't think I like the Secret Gardens there in white so I may remove it. Again I made this using some techniques I have learned in my Creative Texture class and some techniques I have learned on YouTube.

The photos are of my older sister when she was a very little girl (I added wings to her pic and this is my favorite picture of her). The other is of my mother when she was in her twenties.

I Am Not Pretty But I Have Texture!

This is called I Am Not Pretty But I Have Texture! It was done for my Creative Textures online class!

This was made using Golden Modeling Paste, acrylic paints, paper and an old tin rusted flower. It was fun to play with the paste! She actually reminds me of a supervisor I had at work a long time ago. Was not intentional but the eyes and coloring and hairstyle came out the same as hers. I considered naming it after her but after seeing all the pretty portraits that are shown I decided to name it what I did! LOL!

Here is one of my handmade ceramic beads in...

this beaded necklace I made years ago! The purse measures from highest point to lowest 7" X 2 3/4" wide. The full length of the necklace is 24" long. I don't make these types of necklaces anymore as my eyes are not as good. But I am having fun making the ceramic beads!

Happy May Day!

Ahhhhhh the good life! How can I resist? It is such a beautiful day here in Washington. I had to share these pics of Circe and Fwed on the deck. They are so laid back and just enjoying the moment like we should all be doing!

It seems Fwed has taken up residence in a pot. I suppose I won't be able to plant seeds in that one!

The moment waits for you....

Thank you for stopping by to visit my blog! I appreciate all of your visits and comments!
