Table Leg Doll Class

Jane DesRosier's Table Leg Doll Class has been a lot of fun for me! Here is what I have been working on beside Valentine dolls (13 of them). While I was waiting to get my materials together for the table leg class I bought a cedar fence post cap and finial. Then sculpted the face and petals with paperclay and then painted it. I had a blast and am starting another one! It is much brighter in person, I don't know why my shots come out yellowish! It is prettier in person! I also have begun my acutual table leg doll which I will show later when completed. Anyway, for those of you who don't know check out Jane www.clothandclaydolls.ning.com

Art Doll Quarterly Group Submission...My Doll

is included!

Last Fall Jane DesRosier called for an Upcycled Doll Challenge for the Cloth and Clay Doll group that I am a happy member of I submitted my All Caught Up Fairy...I wanted to post the picture as soon as she was completed but thought it might be better to wait to see if it would be accepted. All of us who participated are included in the magazine. I am showing only the page that my doll is on...it is my blog afterall! hee, hee. Mine is the center left. To see the rest of the dolls you have to buy the magazine, lol! It is pretty exciting to get this magazine in the mail, I was planning on buying it when it came out so I guess when you submit a doll you get a free magazine! My doll was cloth body with clay head hands and feet. Acrylic paint, twine, wool for hair, dried orange peel, paper bag for dress. Pods from an old potpouri package are the wings and recycled plastic red netting for ankle chic cuffs. I forgot to mention that I sculpted a paperclay hand which has the fairy in a clutch. I made the hand using wire and attaching to a table leg base painted and collaging the base. The second picture is the doll being constructed along the way. All of the dolls submitted are amazing! This is really one of the best copies of this magazine I have seen! Not just because our group dolls were included but the other artist's work throughout this magazine are wonderful! I have to get more dolls done it is so inspiring...maybe the magazine will feature some of mine in the future!! I know I am going to give it my all and keep submitting! I plan on selling my dolls again on Etsy and maybe here on my blog...I do have to try Ebay too. Wish me luck!

Update...Queen of Hearts is up for sale in my etsy shop!

The Queen of Hearts!

When I think of the Queen of Hearts I think of Princess Diana and Alice in Wonderland. This doll was a lot of fun and seemed to dictate to me what she wanted done. It amazes me when that happens because I had something else in mind when I started her. I don't know if you can see it but she has a paint brush in her right hand and a white rose that she has begun to paint red. The rose and paint brush are dripping and there is some paint splatters at her feet with a small paint jar!

Taking a break from making Valentine dolls to share this...

Unfortunately I don't know who wrote it or its origins ---

quote:
"May this New Year be one of Joy, abundance, good-will, peaceful
awakenings and graceful journeys. May we have courage
to look for the blessing in every moment, and the audacity
to celebrate it!

May compassion reign in our hearts and kindness ring
through every word. May our waking dreams be filled
with joy, creativity and passionate pursuits. May our
hearts and minds be joined as One; unified within, so without.

May we remember we are all Children of the Earth: kindred
spirits, brothers and sisters, members of the Great family
of Love.

May we choose Love over fear; unity and harmony over
separation and discord. May we have the strength to claim
our authentic power; standing true in Word, action and deed,
and with firm resolve BE the change we wish to see in the world.

May our children see the Light of Love in our eyes. May our
elders be honored for the wisdom each bears. May every Heart
trust they are Divinely endowed with the birth-right to thrive,
and wake each day celebrating the Great-Full-Ness of life.

May we remember Heaven is within our Hearts, opening our
eyes to the sacred in all things. May we breathe prayers of
thanks into each moment, and with reverence honor the gift
this Life brings.

This is our prayer. We give thanks it is so! And so it is!"

The moment waits for you....
