Today's addition to my art journal...

 I had a page that I started long ago and decided it needed to have my attention.  There was a photo of Frida Kahlo that kept crossing my path and so I caved.  I have tried not to get on the Frida bandwagon, I don't know why, maybe because the internet and all media seemed saturated.  Well, it still is saturated but like I said I caved!  I started with collage papers, some stamping, an attempt at making some washi tape.  Then drawing my sketch in pencil.  I added w/c pencil and crayon and my loved Sakura water brush!

I am still tweaking it but here it is exposed!  There was a lot of texture underneath the sketching and so it is not a smooth painting.  I saw original photo and it made me wonder if she was in pain, or if Diego was on her mind or both!

Today's muse.

I used white gesso over text.  Then drew with brown watercolor pencil, used my favorite watercolor brush by Sakura.  Then used white Portfolio oil pastel and a bit of black ink pen for some detail.  Had so much fun with this!

Another page added to my art journal.

I used alcohol ink that I made and put into a spray bottle.  I used a stencil and then casein and acrylic paint for skin tones.  I then painted with watercolor and w/c pencil.

New additions to my art journaling.

Still zendoodling.  Always playing with collaging and stencils, watercolors and wc pencils and crayons.  Discovered that not all fairies have to be pretty, especially when they pop out from "Gut Art"!  The first now on the bottom was painted with wc pencils.  I was inspired to play with tutorial on Youtube by timssally.  I love Mindy Murphy Lacefield's work!

Mermtangle? That is what I am calling her/it!

This is what I am doing inbetween cleaning or trying to, my craft room so that I won't feel so claustraphobic!  Ok, now back to cleaning.  A girl has to stay creative right!

Back to mermaid WIP...she is finished.

She just needs varnish.  This one was fun!  On the front is a picture taken from a vintage reader.  It is of three children stuck on a rock at sea.  The quote on the left side of mermaid block says "It is of no use," said Robert; "no one hears or sees us.  Perhaps, after all, the water will not rise high enough to cover our heads.  Let us hold fast to each other, so that we may not be washed off the rock."  Just click on image for better view if still hard to see let me know and I will take better photos.

Felt the need to paint/draw or draw/paint.

The photo on the left was borrowed from Pinterest the Artist/photographer is Senju-Hime.  My rendition is of course on the right and I am still playing with it.  It is in my art journal.  When I saw the photo on Pinterest I couldn't stop staring, in my naivete I thought it was the face of a clown in clown makeup but on further study I think it is supposed to look like blood (it does) on a painted white face.  It still fascinates me!  I hope this is ok it is just practice not meant to be a rip off or an exact copy just a study and in my personal journal.  It made me look at clown faces differently like Circe du Sopliel does.  Oh, and I need to fill this journal up...I have several pages to go!

Again switching the program around, a wip in progress.  I had started this piece about a year ago but got bored with it.  I decided to make changes.  I love mermaids so I decided to take it from a boring Prim (not that prims are boring, just mine are) to a mermaid.  It is fun!  I love Creative PaperClay!
